Five Wits Cosplay Gallery

Ruth: We really like these characters from Dogs: Bullets and Carnage.  Also we never had costumes that included toy guns before.  This gave us an excuse to race around acting like lunatics at Otakon 09 and Anime Festival Orlando. Though I imagine we looked rather silly watching "Ponyo" in these.

Jessica:  I never wore contacts at all before making my Haine cosplay.  I still can't put them in by myself.  But I think they look awesome and creepy!  I sort of forgot I still had red eyes after taking off the white makeup and the wig, and then wondered why the people at the convenience store were giving me weird looks.

Ruth:  Sarah was already cosplaying Viral, and it seemed like a fun idea at the time.  But even I scare myself in Leeron cosplay.

Jessica:  I still want to make Simon's president's coat in order to complete this outfit.  At Anime Boston I was riding the escalator down and I saw a Kamina on the up escalator.  I yelled at him and we punched fists.  It was great.

We were part of the skit "Support the Troops" at Katsucon 2009.  If you saw it, you will probably never forget Allen Walker doing Russian dancing.  Also, Kanda memorably killed the Finder.  Here's our whole group with our trophies.

Jessica:  At Gencon 08 we all went out to the Hard Rock cafe in D-Gray Man cosplay.

Same group a couple months later.

Ruth: I found out that Kanda really sucked at dealing with customers, so I switched out cosplays for someone friendlier.  That's me as Tykki.  For some reason I scared a lot of Allens.  It was fun, but they wouldn't let me go out to dinner like that.  I like my yellow contacts.

Ruth: I'm not sure what this piece of public art was, but it needed to be attacked.

Ruth had way too much fun being Tykki.

Youmacon 09 was awesome.  We were Noah.

Tykki found a really great Allen to terrorize.

Ruth: Yes, that is a leek.  The secret to cosplaying as Orihime is four pairs of socks. At least it is for me.

Jessica:  And then when she cosplays Kanda the next day, people get very confused.  "But where have they gone?"  Sad face.

Karakura High Handicrafts Club to the rescue!

The best customer service team Ever.  Tamaki talks to the customers and Kyoya handles all the money.  Also these are pretty comfortable to wear all day.

Jessica:  I actually do keep track of everything we've sold on the clipboard.

Ruth: To the left you will see Tamaki's Myspace photo.

Ruth: Deidara cans has cheeseburger!  I like manning the booth as Deidara, though people get nervous about buying my pottery. <shrug>  Also fun is waving at strangers.

Jessica:  This was the first cosplay I made for myself and the only one I had for the longest time.  I never really get to smile when I'm cosplaying Gaara.  Right now the gourd, made of two lampshades covered over with brown paper, needs serious repair, alas.  I should do a new version with his Kazekage hat.

Ruth:  This is Sai, from Naruto.  I like being the weird artist characters.  Wonder why.  This is one of my regular cosplays and great for manning an Artists Alley table in.  Also proved to be great for a ridiculously fun Anime Dating Game at Anime Boston 09.

Ruth:  Wizard World Philly 08.  Nearly chickened out.  Glad I didn't because I got a double take from Chris Claremont.  Hee hee. Something to tell grandchildren who'll go "Eww!  Grandma no, put those pictures away!"

Ruth:   Winry!  Costume made for the sad little doomed Tandokucon, and worn in a skit for Anime Boston 08 wherein I failed at dancing.

Ruth: Gencon 09 Zombie crawl!  I went out to Steak and Shake with my friends like this.  I scared small children.

Everyone started somewhere.  We felt it only fair that we share this.  We hadn't packed any cosplay because we didn't have any yet, just the Akatsuki robes we'd brought to sell.  So, like so many before and since, we too, with the aid of a sharpie, an orange folder and some markers were Failkatsuki.
