The Five Wits include Ruth Lampi, Jessica Van Oort, Kitt Evans , Sarah Hagenmaier and Sara Hannon. It was founded with two members originally, and now sometimes there's more than five of us. Don't question it.
Ruth Lampi
Sculptor and Illustrator
Worlds Within
Art Prints ~ Pottery ~ Sculpture ~ Wuzzats
Ruth Lampi has been drawing fantasy and science fiction characters from the time she could grip crayons. A BFA graduate of Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, she has exhibited at Orycon, Norwescon, Philcon, Ubercon, Balticon and Albacon. She works in pencils, inks, polymer clay and found objects, and enjoys weaving three-dimensional elements into the frames of her pictures. Ruth's portraits capture the attitude and uniqueness of her sitters, whether they come from this world or another.
"I draw to create new realities, and to see the people in my head. I've always felt book characters to be at a disadvantage, having no portrait artists handy. I plan to one day rid the world of silly book covers and to draw good portraits of those friends I've made who happen not to exist."
Jessica Van Oort
Costumer
Cloaks ~ Wizard Robes ~ Budget Cloaks ~ Shirts and Coats
Jessica is currently in the fourth year of her doctoral program at Temple University in Philadelphia, working on a dissertation about dance and gender in 13th century Germany. In other words, she gets to read lots of poems about courtly and not-so-courtly love, and about the trouble 13th century German teenagers got into at village dances, which was remarkably similar to the sorts of trouble teenagers get into at dances today.
In her spare time, Jessica sews costumes. She specializes in cloaks and robes but has done male and female costumes from the accurately medieval to the fantastic. Her most interesting recent project is a Navy captain's coat.
Kitt Evans
Jewelry and Costumer
Earrings ~ Necklaces ~ Corsets ~ Dice Jewelry
Kitt is currently in her junior year at Moore College of Art and Design
where she is working towards a double BFA in illustration and art
history. She is also studying classical voice with a private
instructor. Kitt started drawing as early back as she can remember and
has a passion for fantasy books as well as classic literature. She
would like to make sure that all characters and creatures in books are
portrayed as accurate to their descriptions as possible. Kitt began
making jewelry in high school as yet another creative outlet and created
her Gamer Gear line in 2006 for fellow fashionable geeks. She joined
the Five Wits in 2006 and loves to share her artistic passions with
other like-minded friends.
